Hope everyone is doing well!

An exciting moment … we want to take Touch skills to the next level!!! Also, next year is Euros 2012 in Italy, and for that we want the Dutch teams to be playing at an even higher level.

A few months ago, we saw the very best teams in action at the World Cup, and interestingly, they tended to play in a similar way. We now want to bring those common patterns and skills into our Touch.

Myself and Chris Lim, as the NTRB Coaching Team (with the input from the NTRB), plan to instil even better skills, structures, and a total gameplan (all players involved, not only the Mids) into Dutch Touch, in an effort to move up the FIT rankings and to strengthen our Leagues too.

The first step in this process is to run a Super Skills Sessions (SSS) on 10 December 2011. We want to start imprinting the new plays into our players’ minds, and also allow some time to digest and reflect before next year’s busy Touch schedule.

The SSS is open to all players who have played or aspire to play international standard Touch. If so, please save the date in your diaries! It will most probably be in Amsterdam, the field and times are still to be determined. The day will comprise a basic overview of the new play structure, drills to start practicing the most important basics (note: the Touch basics will not be drilled, as we will expect that from the participating players), ending off with a fully reffed, high standard game.

NTRB Coaching Team

When: We will have the pitches for the whole day, but realizing the World Cup Semi-final (W QF1 vs. W QF2) are on that day, we will work something out. The date is fixed the times will follow shortly.

- Maximum 8 teams playing 6 a side mixed touch rugby plus subs.

- Men teams are allowed but will be penalized ( -5 points with no women, -3 points for less than 2 Women on the pitch at any time)

What do you need to do?

Get a team together and pay the entry fee asap – remember 8 teams max. Closing date for entries is October 9^th.

Organize your team shirts – each team will require numbers on the shirts

If you haven’t got a team, let us know and we should be able to add you to one.

Finally spread the word. If you have a team from another comp get them together for a great day out.

Reminders for new players:

Boots with metal studs, metal tipped studs, or screw in studs are not acceptable (refs will check boots before play)

It’s touch – rough play not acceptable

All refs are qualified L1 minimum, so they know what they’re doing

It’s an awesome game so just come down and have some fun!

One team has had to drop out due to injuries so we will now be able to do full round robin plus a final per team for position.  As there are more games we’ll go to no-half-time games of 18 minutes each and we will have two pitches in action.  All teams will play 6 games generally on alternate slots but with the odd back to back.

FORMAT: The tournament will be run on full sized touch pitches (70×50m) and will be in accordance with proper touch rules (ie 6 on the field with rolling subs).  Teams from touch leagues will have to play Mixed with at least 1 girl on field.  Teams from rugby clubs can play with any combo, from all girls to all Men.  Tournament will be full round robin then finals.
REFEREES: All refs will be Federation of International Touch qualified!
UNIFORMS: All teams must have a team kit, preferably with numbers and preferably not yellow to clash with refs
PITCHES: Note that the pitches will be artificial turf, but that really good kind that you can play with normal rugby boots on
FOOD: Ron will be running a BBQ serving authentic South African boererols!  He’ll run a deal of EUR5 for 1 boererol plus 2 drinks or 2 boererols plus 1 drink
TOURNEY ENTRY FEE: EUR50 per team.  Payable to Mike on the day or by transfer to the NTRB
